Getting back to ourselves and our precious eyes, with summer just about to begin this is the time they deserve extra care. Leaving your eyes unprotected increases the risk for cataracts, photo-sensitive eye problems and much more. Here are some tips to keep your sparkly jewels safe through the heat!
Get yourself a good pair of sunglasses that provide 100% UV protection. Choose shades that are larger and have wider wraparound frames and lenses to maximise protection for your eyes. Wear a wide hat that covers your face and eyes well from the harsh sun. Avoid squinting and frowning as these can accelerate the formation of fine lines and wrinkles around the eye and on the forehead.
Drink more water to stay hydrated throughout the day. Your eyes too need extra moisture to avoid drying out in the heat. So make sure you don’t skip water. Avoid stepping out at midday and in the afternoon when the sun is at it’s strongest. The UV radiation is maximum at this time. When you apply sunscreen, keep it away from the eyes. Use eye makeup sparingly during this season, you need to allow the skin around your eyes to breathe. Remove all your eye makeup completely before bedtime. Pamper your eyes a little extra by cooling them off at the end of the day using cucumber slices, or cold tea bags. Splash plenty of cool water on your eyes and face throughout the day to keep it refreshed and lively in the summer heat.
