PREGNANCY AND LACTATING

According to the latest medical advice, it is not recommended to undergo laser treatments during pregnancy.

MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLEMENTS

SUN EXPOSURE AND TANNING

CLIENTS MUST NOTIFY THEIR TREATING THERAPIST IMMEDIATELY

Clients need to advise the treating therapist if they have had any sun exposure in the past 2 – 4 weeks prior to having treatments, this includes solariums, topical application of fake tan or any other forms of tanning.

DIPILATORY CREAMS AND BLEACHING AGENTS

NO depilatory creams are allowed 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after treatment.

NO bleaching agents are allowed 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after treatment.

PRE / POST TREATMENT CARE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL

All clients are required to shave 24hrs prior to their treatment / appointment to reduce the risk of burning and blistering, unless otherwise stated by your treating therapist.

Unshaven areas will result in a $29 fee per razor.

Eden Laser Clinics reserves the right to NOT treat clients if we feel any contributing aspects may affect the treatment or results.

Eden Laser Clinics may request a doctor’s certificate of clearance prior to treatment. If clearance has not been supplied, we may request a waiver to be signed at the time of your appointment.

24 – 48 hrs post LHR treatment:

  • No excessive heat.
  • No gyms or exercise (24hrs poste treatment)
  • No chlorinated pools or spas.
  • No steam rooms or saunas
  • No sun exposure

SKIN CHECKING REQUIREMENTS & CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR PIGMENTATION REMOVAL

PLEASE NOTE, NO TREATMENT WILL BE RECEIVED ON THE SAME DAY AS YOUR SKIN CONSULTATION.

    • A FREE consultation will be completed prior to any treatment with us to answer any questions as well as explain the before and aftercare procedures and what to expect.
    • Clients are required to have a skin check with their GP or Doctor prior to having treatment (every 6-12 months is recommended) to ensure there are no abnormal lesions.
    • Clients need to notify the therapist if they have had tattoos removed in the areas being treated.
    • Clients need to avoid sun exposure and any form of tanning 4-6 weeks before and after treatment. See more information for usage of Melanin Enhancers.
    • You may be asked to stop any oral or topical medications or skincare 3-5 days prior to treatment.
    • Any residual self tanner must be removed prior to treatment.
    • A doctor’s clearance is required for Surgery within the last 6-12 months.
    • Prone to Herpes Simplex Virus – we recommend you take Lysine as directed by your health professional.
    • If there are any visible active skin infections (i.e staph infection), treatment will not go ahead until the infection has cleared completely.
    • Clients with implanted medical devices will require a clearance from their treating physician before continuing with treatment.
    • Oral Isotretinoin (Accutane or Roaccutane) within 12 months.
    • Any recent cosmetic facial treatment (i.e anti wrinkle injections or dermal fillers), will require a 4 week waiting period before receiving treatment.
    • Avoid any IPL, Laser Hair Removal, waxing or depilatory creams 2 weeks prior to treatment.

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR PIGMENT REMOVAL AND PICOPIGMENT REMOVAL

  • History of melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma
  • History of healing problems and keloid scarring
  • Pregnancy or lactating
  • Poorly controlled medical conditions including significant systemic illness.
  • Medication that alters the wound-healing response, photosensitive
  • Seizure disorders triggered by light (i.e Epilepsy)
  • Taking anticoagulant medication (i.e Warfarin)

A thorough consultation will need to be done prior to any treatments done with Emtone and Embody. You will be required to book in a minimum of 4 sessions.

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR EMTONE AND EMBODY

  • Bacterial or viral infection, acute inflammations
  • Cardiovascular diseases (such as vascular diseases, peripheral arterial disease, thrombophlebitis, thrombosis and varicose veins)
  • A history of bleeding coagulopathies, use of anticoagulants
  • Current or a history of skin cancer or a current condition of any other type of cancer or pre-malignant moles
  • A history of any type of cancer
  • Pregnancy / Nursing or ongoing IVF procedure
  • A permanent implant in the treatment area
  • Poor healing and unhealed wounds in the treatment area
  • Any active condition in the treatment area, such as sores, psoriasis, eczema, and rash
  • Pronounced oedemas
  • Skin related autoimmune diseases
  • Any surgical procedure in the treatment area within the last 3 months, or not completely healed
  • Ablative / non-ablative cosmetic intervention (deep peeling) in the treatment area within 3 months prior to the treatment
  • Acute neuralgia and neuropathy
  • Local corticosteroid therapy
  • A pacemaker or internal defibrillator, or any other active electrical implant in the body
  • Metal implants
  • Sensitivity disorders or anesthesia in the area of interest
  • An impaired immune system
  • Isotretinoin in the past 6-12 months
  • Recent surgery – 6-12 months. A medical clearance may be requested
  • Radiation therapy and chemotherapy
  • Diabetes
  • Active collagen diseases
  • Kidney or liver failure
  • The treatment must not be applied to the area of the head, myocardium, spinal cord, testes, kidney, and liver, above the lungs and close to large nerve bundles or blood vessels.

EMTONE AND EMBODY POST TREATMENT CARE

  • You could experience mild redness or swelling. This is very normal
  • You will be required to drink 2 litres of water up to 4 days after treatment
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle is beneficial to these treatments

Laser Hair Removal

Pre-treatment Preparation
  • 12 HOURS PRIOR – Shave the treatment area within 12 hours of your appointment time. Avoid applying moisturiser or other products to the treatment area.
  • 3 DAYS PRIOR Avoid – active skincare products containing cosmeceutical retinol (topical vitamin A) or hydroquinone (whitening creams).
  • 2 WEEKS PRIOR – Avoid sun exposure, solariums and fake tanning. Avoid waxing, plucking, depilatory creams and electrolysis. Cease use of topical prescription retinol.
Post-treatment Care
  • IMMEDIATELY POST TREATMENT – Hair removal/pigmentation only – Soothe the treated area with cool water, ice packs and apply the recommended product as per your technician’s advice. Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen every 4 hours. Avoid excessive sweating, hot showers, exercise, sauna, spa and swimming, shaving, waxing, plucking and exfoliating. Fraxel only – Sleep elevated for the first night.
  • 3 DAYS POST – Continue to apply the recommended recovery cream and SPF 50+ sunscreen as instructed. Avoid using any active products that contain AHA / BHA or retinol for 3-5 days. Hair removal only – Maintain a good skincare routine with an adequate daily moisturiser.
  • 5 DAYS POST – Gently exfoliate with the recommended microdermal cleansing scrub.
  • 7 DAYS POST – Avoid sun exposure. Apply an SPF 50+ sunscreen throughout the day. Rejuvenation, pigmentation, general redness and Fraxel only – Maintain a good skincare routine with an adequate daily moisturiser.  – *Note: If you have any questions or concerns post-treatment please do not hesitate to call your treating clinic

Skin Treatments

Preparation

Avoid waxing and sunburn to the treatment area for 2 weeks prior. Skin integrity must be intact.

Aftercare
  • 24 HOURS – Avoid heat induced activities including:
    • Excessive exercise
    • Hot showers
    • Steam rooms, pools, and saunas
  • DAY 1-3 – Recommence gentle cleansers & B serums
  • DAY 3+ – Recommence active serums
Preparation
  • CONSULTATION – Before beginning your cosmelan® journey, you’ll need to have a complimentary skin consult with one of our trained dermal technicians to assess this treatment is suitable for you.
  • 4 WEEKS PRIOR TO TREATMENT DAY – You will need to follow the recommended at-home skincare to prepare for the cosmelan® treatment.
  • TREATMENT DAY – Mask remains on skin for 8-12 hrs. After this time, remove the mask at home. Moderate erythema and heat to be expected.
After Care
  • 24 HOURS – Start your after care routine. Moderate erythema, strong heat and moderate swelling.
  • 48 HOURS – Strong erythema, moderate heat, swelling and itching, mild flaking.
  • 72 HOURS – Mild erythema and heat, strong itching and flaking. Visit clinic for LED Light Therapy.
  • 1-8 WEEKS – Mild erythema, moderate itching and flaking. Expect to purchase additional aftercare products. Recommended weekly LED treatments in clinic.
Preparation
  • 2 WEEKS PRIOR – Dermaplaning is an entry level skin treatment and requires no pre-treatment preparation. Just avoid waxing and sunburn to the treatment area for 2 weeks prior. Dermaplaning treatments are safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mums.
After Care
  • 24 HOURS – Avoid heat induced activities, including:• Steam rooms & saunas• Swimming pools• Excessive exercise
  • DAY 1-3 – Avoid active skincare ingredients. Use a gentle cleanser, hyaluronic acid, moisturiser and SPF.

Skin must be prepped on a tyrosinase inhibitor and SPF for a minimum of 2 weeks to minimise post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We recommend using the Aesthetics Rx Ultimate Serum OR Vitamin C Serum OR SILK Brightening Serum as your tyrosinase inhibitor. Your dermal technician will complete a patch test during your consultation appointment 2 weeks prior to your first treatment appointment to ensure suitability.
  • TREATMENT DAY – No fake tan in the area.
After Care

Clients with underlying Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation or Melasma are recommended to be using a tyrosinase inhibitor as part of your skincare routine. We recommend using Aesthetics Rx Ultimate Serum OR Vitamin C Serum OR SILK Brightening Serum as your tyrosinase inhibitor.

If you are using topical acne medications or taking light sensitising medications please advise your dermal technician.

Lumixa is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding mums.

  • ANTI-AGEING MEDIPEEL – No waxing in the area 2 weeks prior to treatment. No sunburn in the area 2 weeks prior to treatment. Client must be prepped on Vitamin A nightly for 2 weeks prior. We recommend Aesthetics Rx A Serum or A Serum 1%
  • RESURFACING MEDIPEEL – No waxing in the area 2 weeks prior to treatment. No sunburn in the area 2 weeks prior to treatment. Client must have received at least 1 Exfoliating MediPeel prior.

Preparation

It is essential to avoid sun exposure or solariums for at least 4 weeks prior to your treatment and throughout your treatment plan. Any form of exposure can increase your risk of burning, blistering and pigment changes within the skin which includes post inflammatory hyper, darkening, or hypo, lightening, pigmentation.It is also important to avoid the use of fake tans prior to your treatment and ensure the area is free from any artificial pigments, including makeup, the day of your appointment.

At your initial consultation you will be asked to arrive 10mins prior to your scheduled appointment to ensure you have ample time to complete the necessary paperwork prior to being taken through to one of our treatment rooms. Your SILK technician will then discuss the following with you to ensure you have complete understanding of the treatment plan, this includes:

  • Visual assessment of your skin
  • Discussion regarding any previous treatments
  • How the laser works
  • How to prepare for your treatments
  • How to care for your skin to ensure lasting results
  • Possible adverse reactions
  • Personalised Treatment Plan outlining all pricing options

In most cases you can proceed with your first treatment at the time of the consultation, however should there be any ‘red flags’ in your consultation your SILK Laser Specialist may advise that a Test Patch be performed prior to commencing your treatments.

After Care

Directly after the treatment, the area will feel very similar to sunburn with the skin being red and hot to touch. For most clients this response will usually last 2-12hours, but in some cases can last up to 48hours after your treatment. Should you notice these affects for longer than 48 hours post treatment, please contact your clinic.

The SILK Soothing Gel is a must have for all laser clients, it’s anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. SILK recommended that this be applied to the treatment area at least each morning and night for 7days after your treatment, it is also advised that you bring the SILK Soothing Gel to your appointments as you will want to apply is generously throughout the day after your treatment. It is also advised that you avoid hot showers, baths, pools, spas, steam, sauna and the gym for at least 48hours post treatment, this may be extended if the treatment area is still feeling warm or irritated.

Cosmetic Injectables

Preparation
  • DAY OF CONSULTATION – Advise our doctors and nurses if you are taking blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin, warfarin or clopidogrel etc), regardless of whether you are expecting to have treatment or just a consultation.
  • 24 HOURS PRIOR – Avoid excessive sun exposure Avoid alcohol Avoid over the counter medications or multi vitamins that may cause blood thinning such as: Ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, vitamin e, Ginko Biloba Please continue to take any regular blood thinning medication that has been prescribed to you by your GP On the day of your appointment ensure you have eaten a meal and increase your water intake.
  • 7 DAYS PRIOR – Avoid chemical peels and needling.
After Care
  • IMMEDIATELY POST TREATMENT – Maximise facial activity for half an hour (such as frowning, raising your eyebrows and squinting). Avoid lying down horizontal for 4 hours. Do not have facial treatments, rub or massage the treated area. You may gently cleanse the area with cotton wool. Take paracetamol as needed. Avoid steam rooms, saunas and swimming pools. Avoid exercise for 24 hours. Avoid alcohol.
  • 2 WEEKS POST – Visit your cosmetic injector for a review appointment
Preparation
  • 7 DAYS PRIOR – Avoid chemical peels and microneedling for 7 days prior to treatment.
  • CONSULTATION – All cosmetic injectable treatments require a complimentary consultation with one of our doctors or registered nurses. Please advise your cosmetic injector if you are taking any blood-thinning medications regardless of whether you’re expecting to have a treatment.
After Care

Avoid:

  • Make-up for 12 hours
  • Alcohol, aspirin and vigorous exercise for 48 hours
  • Sunbathing, extremes of heat or cold, dental procedures and other cosmetic treatments in the same area (including fillers, muscle relaxants, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and laser/ IPL) for 2 weeks post treatment.
  • Fractional RF for 4 weeks post treatment
Preparation
  • 7 DAYS PRIOR – Avoid chemical peels and microneedling for 7 days prior to treatment.

After Care
  • IMMEDIATELY POST TREATMENT – Ice packs can be used after treatment if needed. Avoid alcohol and painkillers like ibuprofen before and after treatment as they can thin the blood and increase chance of bruising. Avoid sleeping on your face for 24 hours. Sleep with your head slightly elevated and avoid pressure on the area. Preparation + Contraindications

A thorough consultation will need to be done prior to any treatments done with Emtone and Embody. You will be required to book in a minimum of 4 sessions.

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR EMTONE AND EMBODY

  • Bacterial or viral infection, acute inflammations
  • Cardiovascular diseases (such as vascular diseases, peripheral arterial disease, thrombophlebitis, thrombosis and varicose veins)
  • A history of bleeding coagulopathies, use of anticoagulants
  • Current or a history of skin cancer or a current condition of any other type of cancer or pre-malignant moles
  • A history of any type of cancer
  • Pregnancy / Nursing or ongoing IVF procedure
  • A permanent implant in the treatment area
  • Poor healing and unhealed wounds in the treatment area
  • Any active condition in the treatment area, such as sores, psoriasis, eczema, and rash
  • Pronounced oedemas
  • Skin related autoimmune diseases
  • Any surgical procedure in the treatment area within the last 3 months, or not completely healed
  • Ablative / non-ablative cosmetic intervention (deep peeling) in the treatment area within 3 months prior to the treatment
  • Acute neuralgia and neuropathy
  • Local corticosteroid therapy
  • A pacemaker or internal defibrillator, or any other active electrical implant in the body
  • Metal implants
  • Sensitivity disorders or anesthesia in the area of interest
  • An impaired immune system
  • Isotretinoin in the past 6-12 months
  • Recent surgery – 6-12 months. A medical clearance may be requested
  • Radiation therapy and chemotherapy
  • Diabetes
  • Active collagen diseases
  • Kidney or liver failure
  • The treatment must not be applied to the area of the head, myocardium, spinal cord, testes, kidney, and liver, above the lungs and close to large nerve bundles or blood vessels.

EMTONE AND EMBODY POST TREATMENT CARE

  • You could experience mild redness or swelling. This is very normal
  • You will be required to drink 2 litres of water up to 4 days after treatment
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle is beneficial to these treatments
