GENERAL CONTRAINDICATIONS
MELANIN ENHANCEMENTS
CLIENTS MUST NOTIFY THEIR TREATING THERAPIST IMMEDIATELY
Clients who are taking or receiving the following melanin enhancers will be contraindicated to receiving any of our treatments. Clients will need to seize usage of these products for a minimum of 3 months prior to us conducting any/all treatments offered at Eden Laser Clinics.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATING
According to the latest medical advice, it is not recommended to undergo laser treatments during pregnancy.
Clients who are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant or lactating need to advise the treating therapist prior to having any treatments with Eden Laser Clinics.
MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLEMENTS

- Roaccutane
- Blood thinning medication
- Some antibiotics
- Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy medication
- Fish oil
- Photosensitive Medication
- Epilepsy medication
- Topical steroids
SKIN CONDITIONS
CLIENTS MUST NOTIFY THEIR TREATING THERAPIST IMMEDIATELY
Clients need to advise the treating therapist if they are experiencing any of the following Skin Conditions as these may be contraindicated to having certain treatments with Eden Laser Clinics. Please note: the below list is inconclusive.
- Ezcema
- Psorisis
- Dermatitis
- Vitiligo
- Autoimmune disease
- Skin or Fungal Infections
- Rash
- Keloid Scarring
- Herpes Simplex
- Open or partly open wounds
- Ance with open wounds and infection
SUN EXPOSURE AND TANNING
CLIENTS MUST NOTIFY THEIR TREATING THERAPIST IMMEDIATELY
Clients need to advise the treating therapist if they have had any sun exposure in the past 2 – 4 weeks prior to having treatments, this includes solariums, topical application of fake tan or any other forms of tanning.
DIPILATORY CREAMS AND BLEACHING AGENTS
NO depilatory creams are allowed 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after treatment.
NO bleaching agents are allowed 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after treatment.
PRE / POST TREATMENT CARE FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL
All clients are required to shave 24hrs prior to their treatment / appointment to reduce the risk of burning and blistering, unless otherwise stated by your treating therapist.
Unshaven areas will result in a $29 fee per razor.
Eden Laser Clinics reserves the right to NOT treat clients if we feel any contributing aspects may affect the treatment or results.
Eden Laser Clinics may request a doctor’s certificate of clearance prior to treatment. If clearance has not been supplied, we may request a waiver to be signed at the time of your appointment.
24 – 48 hrs post LHR treatment:
- No excessive heat.
- No gyms or exercise (24hrs poste treatment)
- No chlorinated pools or spas.
- No steam rooms or saunas
- No sun exposure
SKIN CHECKING REQUIREMENTS & CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR PIGMENTATION REMOVAL
PLEASE NOTE, NO TREATMENT WILL BE RECEIVED ON THE SAME DAY AS YOUR SKIN CONSULTATION.

- A FREE consultation will be completed prior to any treatment with us to answer any questions as well as explain the before and aftercare procedures and what to expect.
- Clients are required to have a skin check with their GP or Doctor prior to having treatment (every 6-12 months is recommended) to ensure there are no abnormal lesions.
- Clients need to notify the therapist if they have had tattoos removed in the areas being treated.
- Clients need to avoid sun exposure and any form of tanning 4-6 weeks before and after treatment. See more information for usage of Melanin Enhancers.
- You may be asked to stop any oral or topical medications or skincare 3-5 days prior to treatment.
- Any residual self tanner must be removed prior to treatment.
- A doctor’s clearance is required for Surgery within the last 6-12 months.
- Prone to Herpes Simplex Virus – we recommend you take Lysine as directed by your health professional.
- If there are any visible active skin infections (i.e staph infection), treatment will not go ahead until the infection has cleared completely.
- Clients with implanted medical devices will require a clearance from their treating physician before continuing with treatment.
- Oral Isotretinoin (Accutane or Roaccutane) within 12 months.
- Any recent cosmetic facial treatment (i.e anti wrinkle injections or dermal fillers), will require a 4 week waiting period before receiving treatment.
- Avoid any IPL, Laser Hair Removal, waxing or depilatory creams 2 weeks prior to treatment.
CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR PIGMENT REMOVAL AND PICOPIGMENT REMOVAL
- History of melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma
- History of healing problems and keloid scarring
- Pregnancy or lactating
- Poorly controlled medical conditions including significant systemic illness.
- Medication that alters the wound-healing response, photosensitive
- Seizure disorders triggered by light (i.e Epilepsy)
- Taking anticoagulant medication (i.e Warfarin)

FACIAL AND VASCULAR TREATMENT PREPPING
Certain facial treatments will need to be prepared prior to having treatment. A thorough consultation is required prior to booking in for these treatments.

COSMELAN
A thorough consultation will need to be done prior to booking in a Cosmelan Depigmentation Treatment.
Partial/full payment will be required prior to treatment being performed.
PREPPING FOR COSMELAN DEPIGMENTATION TREATMENT
- Prepping using Aesthetics Rx Vitamin A or A Serum 1% and Aesthetics Rx Ultimate Serum 2-4 weeks prior to treatment. (prepping will need to be stopped 2 days before treatment is performed.
- Some clients may require 2 x introductory peels performed before Cosmelan treatment.
- DO avoid any chemical peel or laser procedures 14 days prior to treatment with Cosmelan.
- Refrain from waxing or using any depilatory products for 7 days prior to treatment.
POST COSMELAN DEPIGMENTATION TREATMENT CARE
- Clients are required to strictly use the Cosmelan products prescribed to them during the 6 month treatment.
- Always avoid sun exposure as much as possible.
- Sun protection must be applied daily.
- Do NOT have another treatment or procedure (including peels, facials, or microdermabrasion) on the treated area for the remainder of the treatment.
CONTRAINDICATIONS TO COSMELAN
- Aspirin Allergies
- Pregnancy & lactating
- Sunburn or sun exposure
- Anti wrinkle & Dermal fillers (Must wait 4 weeks)
- Eczema/psoriasis/dermatitis or any skin diseases/conditions
- Keloid Scarring and hypertrophic scarring
- Diabetes (healing response is not suitable for treatment)
- Treatments with oral isotretinoin (until 6 -12 months after the final session) or other retinoids.
- Treatment with antibiotics or hydroquinone
- Epilepsy
- Radiotherapy or recent dermatological surgery
- Areas with ink micropigmentation (eyebrow tattooing etc)
- Infectious diseases (eg Hep C, HIV etc)
- Active Acne (can avoid the area if it’s not widespread)
- Open lesions (avoid the area if possible)
- Active facial herpes (can also cause an outbreak if the client is susceptible)
- Autoimmune diseases
- Clients with unrealistic expectations/unstable psychological profile
* The above list contains the most common contraindications to skin treatments and is by no means complete. The Therapist will determine if a skin is suitable to have treatment.
COSMELAN PRECAUTIONS BEFORE TREATMENT

COSMELAN PRECAUTIONS AFTER TREATMENT
- Avoid swimming pools, saunas, exposure to natural or artificial light and sources of direct heat for up to 48 hours
- Post-treatments with retinoids according to the evolution of the treatment
- Depilation with wax, electricity or photoepilation for 15 days
- Wait for three week after the last treatment for the implantation of filler substances or tattoos
- For men, a minimum of 24 hours is recommended for shaving the area
- Avoid using tanning beds (illegal in Australia) and prolonged exposure to the sun
- Avoid picking or peeling the skin during the healing process
- Do not use any products / skincare that are not recommended post treatment. Speak to your therapist for more information
COSMELAN POST TREATMENT RECOVERY AND EXPECTATIONS
- Swelling of face and eyes (similar to a histamine reaction)
- Redness
- Peeling
- Irritation
- Itchiness
- Tenderness
- Tightness
- Sunburn / heat feeling
MICRONEEDLING
A thorough consultation will need to be done prior to booking in a Skin Needling Treatment.

- Keloid scarring
- Skin infections
- Hemophiliacs or other blood disorders
- Isotretinoin in the past 6-12 months
- Poor health
- Anticoagulant medication
- Active acne
- Psoriasis and other chronic conditions
- Solar keratosis
- Active Herpes simplex infections
- Diabetes
- Raised Moles
- Skin cancers and solar keratosis
- Scleroderma, collagen or vascular diseases and cardiac abnormalities.
- Blood clotting conditions.
- Active bacterial or fungal infections.
- Warts
- Recent Laser of other skin treatments
- Injectables – 2 weeks before / 4 weeks after treatment
- New scars – wait 6-12 months. May be asked to provide a medical clearance
- Open wounds
- Corticosteroids
- Pregnancy and Lactating
- Open wounds
- Active rosacea (Rosacea with pustules)
- Keloid scars
- Skin Infection
- Active eczema
PRECAUTIONS FOR SKIN NEEDLING
- Facial Lesions – your Therapist will recommend you have a skin check with your Medical Practitioner prior to having any treatments at Eden Laser Clinics. You may also be asked to provide a medical clearance to proceed with certain treatments.
- Discontinue retinol products 24 hours prior to beginning treatment.
- Do not treat active acne, rosacea, or other inflammatory conditions.
- Do not treat open wounds.
- Do not use the device inside of orbital rim, such as eyelids or inside the vermillion border of the lips.
- Consider prophylactic treatments for those clients prone to viral breakouts.
- Treatments are not to be administered for at least 6 months after the use of Accutane.
POST CARE FOR SKIN NEEDLING
No make-up for 24hours post treatment, and then mineral make up only is recommended. Sun exposure must be avoided for the following 28 days. Sunscreen must not be used on the day of treatment, but it is mandatory the day after treatment. No active ingredients are recommended for 7 days post treatment such as Vit A, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, Benzoyl Peroxide alcohol based, Glycolic, Lactic and Salicylic acids.

BODY TREATMENTS
A thorough consultation will need to be done prior to any treatments done with Emtone and Embody. You will be required to book in a minimum of 4 sessions.
CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR EMTONE AND EMBODY
- Bacterial or viral infection, acute inflammations
- Cardiovascular diseases (such as vascular diseases, peripheral arterial disease, thrombophlebitis, thrombosis and varicose veins)
- A history of bleeding coagulopathies, use of anticoagulants
- Current or a history of skin cancer or a current condition of any other type of cancer or pre-malignant moles
- A history of any type of cancer
- Pregnancy / Nursing or ongoing IVF procedure
- A permanent implant in the treatment area
- Poor healing and unhealed wounds in the treatment area
- Any active condition in the treatment area, such as sores, psoriasis, eczema, and rash
- Pronounced oedemas
- Skin related autoimmune diseases
- Any surgical procedure in the treatment area within the last 3 months, or not completely healed
- Ablative / non-ablative cosmetic intervention (deep peeling) in the treatment area within 3 months prior to the treatment
- Acute neuralgia and neuropathy
- Local corticosteroid therapy
- A pacemaker or internal defibrillator, or any other active electrical implant in the body
- Metal implants
- Sensitivity disorders or anesthesia in the area of interest
- An impaired immune system
- Isotretinoin in the past 6-12 months
- Recent surgery – 6-12 months. A medical clearance may be requested
- Radiation therapy and chemotherapy
- Diabetes
- Active collagen diseases
- Kidney or liver failure
- The treatment must not be applied to the area of the head, myocardium, spinal cord, testes, kidney, and liver, above the lungs and close to large nerve bundles or blood vessels.
EMTONE AND EMBODY POST TREATMENT CARE
- You could experience mild redness or swelling. This is very normal
- You will be required to drink 2 litres of water up to 4 days after treatment
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle is beneficial to these treatments
